Vulnerability and Resilience: Gender & HIV/AIDS in Latin America & the Caribbean
Posted on Sunday, January 05, 2003 @ 23:41:03 CST by editor
Latin America and the Caribbean TITLE: Vulnerability and Resilience: Gender and HIV/AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean
AUTHOR: G. Rao Gupta
DATE: 2002
PUBLISHER:

This paper reviews the most recent literature on HIV/AIDS, gender and sexuality in Latin America and the Caribbean and identifies the various ways in which gender influences the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS prevention and access to services offering treatment, care and support. Under the rubric of gender, this paper also considers issues as they affect adolescent boys and men. Recommendations for programme and policy interventions that can help to reduce gender-related vulnerabilities to HIV/AIDS draw upon analysis of the vast number of sociocultural and economic factors contributing to women's and men's vulnerability to HIV/AIDS in the region.

Article can be accessed on-line here in PDF format. To view PDF documents you will need to download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader. The program is available for free through the Adobe website, download here. More help is available on PDF documents and Adobe Acrobat Reader here.
