Introduction

UNIFEM respects each individual's right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at UNIFEM's Web site (www.genderandaids.org).

Part I. Information Collection

UNIFEM collects information through our Web site at several points.

UNIFEM does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information.

We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information IP address, browser and operating system, site referrals and click stream data in our Apache web server logs which is created automatically when you visit this site.

We collect this information through such as member registration forms, clickstream tracking, log files, and so on.

We do employ cookies. Our cookie is a small text file that our Web server places on a user's computer hard drive that stores the user's language settings. It does not uniquely identify the user. You can choose to reject this cookie. Users that become members of this site are also given a cookie that stores user's customization settings.

Cookies enable UNIFEM to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. Our cookies have an expiration date of two years from the date they are created on your hard drive. Our cookies do not collect personally identifiable information.

Part II. Information Usage

The information collected by UNIFEM will be used to determine:

  • How people find the web site
  • If the information on this web site is organized in a useful manner
  • Links within the web site which may be broken
  • Web Traffic and trends to predict future growth of the service

Users who provide information will receive email announcements and/or newsletters.

Registered users will receive additional announcements from us about our site, site updates and a newsletter. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications.

Part III. Access to Information

Users may access their own personal information and contact us about inaccuracies they may find by logging in to your member area. Users may delete their information from our database by sending an email to webmaster@genderandaids.org along with site username and password.

Part IV. Problem Resolution

If problems arise, users may contact UNIFEM by email at unifem@genderandaids.org. We are committed to resolving disputes within an acceptable time frame.

UNIFEM protects user information with security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
