This call to action stresses the opportunity and urgent need to scale up coordinated action to address violence against women and girls as a cause and consequence of HIV/AIDS. It provides recommendations to three of the largest normative policy-makers, donors, and implementers of the Global AIDS response—PREFAR (U.S. President Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, and UNAIDS—as well as civil society in working to enhance coordinated action to successfully confront this issue.  Furthermore, it identifies the core pillars for a comprehensive and multisectoral approach to stop violence against women and girls and prevent HIV/AIDS.
