This publication discusses mainstreaming a gender perspective in policy development for HIV/AIDS prevention in Tajikistan. This is of particular relevance for Eastern Europe and the CIS countries. The pace of expansion of the epidemic in this region is the highest in the world; however, gender equality in the region is considerably lower than in Western Europe and the United States. The publication emphasizes the importance of gender mainstreaming the National Policy for HIV/AIDS Prevention in Tajikistan.
